Aristida diego-santiagoii (Poaceae), a new species from southern Peru, is described and illustrated. A. diego-santiagoii is related to A. minutiflora due to the perennial life cycle, anthers longer than 2 mm, and laterally compressed lemma; it is distinguished by the longer, acute glumes, smaller ligule, and non-distichous growth. A complete description, a line illustration, and photographs of the new species are included, together with a key to related species with laterally compressed lemma.
