Abstract

Rhizidiomyces apophysatus and R. hirsutus were collected in an aquatic environment from Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. Both species and the genus are reported for the first time for Argentina, being the southernmost records of these species in the Western Hemisphere. They were found as parasitic on oogonia of an unidentified species of the genus Achlya.
