Abstract

The presence of the genus Rhipidocladum McClure is confirmed for Argentina, represented by two species. Rhipidocladum neumannii Sulekic, Rúgolo & L.G. Clark sp. nov., found in flowering and vegetative condition in Argentina, in Salta and Tucumán, and Bolivia, is described and illustrated. The presence of R. racemiflorum (Steud.) McClure is documented for the first time for the northwestern region of Salta. Rhipidocladum is described and the differences with the genus Merostachys Spreng. are included in a key. Some remarks about the morphology, flowering, geographical distribution and a doubtful specimen have been made.
