Abstract

The anther osmophores of Cyphomandra diploconos Sendtner and C. hatwegii (Miers) Dunal revealed anatomical features related to the mode of secretion when studied with SEM and thin sections for OM. In both species a blister-like subcuticular space is formed on the cell summit. Volatiles are apparently released by spontaneous (and active?) rupture of the cuticle. An account on the osmophore features of Cyphomandra is presented.
