The commonly used name Tilia moltkei "Späth ex Sehneider"(1909), was invalidly published, without a description and with a leaf illustration which appeared after the limitation date (1908) of Art 44.1. It was applied to hybrid specimens grown at Spath's nursery, near Berlin, Germany, ca. 1875 and is currently used with an incorrect author. The combination Tilia xmoltkei was done for hybrids of Tilia americana L. x T. petiolaris DC. The parentage aeeepted here accepted is Tilia americana L. x T. tomentosa Moeneh subsp. petiolaris (DC) Soó, and the correct designation for this rank is Tilia viridis (Bayer) Simonk. nothosubsp. moltkei (Dippel) Xifreda combo nov. As no type was mentioned, a neotype is designated from materials collected at the Spath Arboretum, which is conserved in BHU.Downloads
