Abstract

Based on the ongoing revision of the genus Gavilea (Orchidaceae), the following synonyms are proposed: Gavilea auriculata (under G. glandulifera), Asarca verrucosa (under G. longibracteata), A. chrysostachya (under G. odoratissima), A. glandulifera var.  illapelina (under G. platyantha) and A. feuilleana (under G. venosa). Also, lectotypes for Asarca spectabilis, A. glandulifera var. illapelina, A. appendiculata and A. platyantha, and a neotype for A. ventaneae are designated. The identity of taxonomically confusing species is discussed.
