Abstract

This work reports the presence of Euploca lagoensis in Argentina based on the successive collection of samples from the species in the Iberá Macrosystem, Corrientes province, and the subsequent discovery of a T. M. Pedersen herbarium specimen that had not been noticed by the national botanical community for more than half a century. The species is described based on the material collected in Argentina. A map with the geographic location of Argentine collections, and a dichotomous key for the recognition of the Argentine Euploca species are provided. The contribution is completed with original illustrations, photomicrographs highlighting diagnostic characters, and photographs of plants in their natural environment.
