Hormogonales (Cyanophyta) from El Guanaco pond (La Pampa, Argentina)

Thirthy-four taxa of fresh-water Cyanophyta included in the Oscillatoriaceae, Nostocaceae, Microchaetaceae, Scytonemataceae and Rivulariaceae were identified. Six species, Arthrospira gomontiana Setch., Oscillatoria acuta Brühl et Biswas, Phormidium truncatum Lemmerm., Scytonema schmidtii Gomont, Homoeothrix gracilis (Hansg.) Komárek et Kovácik, Gloeotrichia rabenhorstiiBornet and one form, Oscillatoria salina Biswas f. mayor Desikachary are described and illustrated for the first time for Argentina. Among the remaining taxa, seven species previously reported for Argentina represent new records for La Pampa province. Ecological observations on habitat, as well as geographical distribution, are included.
